
Tuesday 15 Jul 14: another outstanding meal at the Oak Bistro (www.theoakbistro.co.uk). I’ve been a regular at the Oak for a year or so now and I’d regarded it as one of Cambridge’s best kept secrets until it won the Cambridge News’ best restaurant award earlier this month (http://bit.ly/1jwKdpj).
What’s really good about the Oak is neither its excellent food nor its first class service but the simplicity of its menu: plain English with no unnecessary adverbs. Oh and by the way there’s an excellent choice of wines including several by the glass; I can recommend the St Chinian Syrah/Mouvedre.
