the ever-protesting @huwjoneslabour

Sat 25 May 19: protests outside Barclays and HSBC in Cambridge this morning. Seemed peaceful to me but the banks appeared to regard it as sufficiently threatening to justify closing their doors. Seems like an over-reaction to me. I’ll agree with the underlying sentiment here but somehow we’ve got to think of how we are going to re-channel investment away from fossil fuels and this might just involve the oil companies. Maybe a little shareholder activism is what we really need.
