Itsukushima Shrine from 1973

Thu 1 Aug 19: I’m scanning a load of old 35mm slides and this one caught my eye. It’s the Itsukushima Shrine close to Miya Jima which I photographed in 1973 on my second trip to Japan when I worked for Shell. I went down to Hiroshima and this was just a short hop beyond.

The photo was taken using my Halina 35mm viewfinder camera and most of what I took in those days was pretty poor, the colours have changed with time and the slides are scratched and dirty. Given that this is not a bad shot and I’ve rescued it with a little Lightroom wizardy to highlight the shrine, add blue to the sky and sharpen up all the detail.
