A pen with a little history

Tue 21 Sep 21: it would have been in 1982 or thereabouts. I was in purchasing and visiting Ciba Geigy in Basel. When I started to take notes I realised I didn’t have anything to write with and asked for a pencil. I remember a rather smooth senior manager producing a Ciba Geigy give away viz this Caran d’Ache ball point. You can just make out the Ciba Geigy name on the barrel. I’m not a ball point user but I’ve kept this with me and it’s been my ‘travelling pen’ of choice for 40 years now. I’ve just bought a refill and in trying to find a replacement in Cambridge I’ve lost the spring that keeps the cartridge in place. Caran d’Ache’s UK agent is sending me a new one free of charge.
