Plenty of petrol in St Ives

Wed 6 Oct 21: well diesel actually for me but I passed three filling stations and all were doing good business with no queues. Regardless of what people might say it was panic buying and that resulted in a week or so’s inventory transferring from filling stations to drivers’ petrol tanks. I remember this happening in the early 70s and at that time one of the solutions was to set a lower limit on how much people might buy. That eliminated the silliness of drivers topping up every time they passed a filling station.
